SAT. APRIL 6th 1-4 pm/ Dirty Laundry - Figurative Art of Harry Hermanz Abbink
Dirty Laundry
In this light-hearted display, the quick sketch figurative art
of Harry Hermansz Abbink and friends is hung out on a
clothesline like fresh sheets blowing in the wind! This
style of art involves sketching a live model in a very short
time. Pencils, paint, and paper are flying. In a typical two
or three-hour session, dozens of sketches are made,
sharpening the artist’s drawing skills. The resulting
artwork is often dynamic in nature, showing pencil marks,
drafting lines and dripped paint. Finely finished artwork is
not to be expected. During the recent Covid pandemic,
these in-person sessions moved online adding even more
complexity. This exhibition features works in charcoal,
pencil, pastel, watercolour and oil as well as sculptural
artwork. The only thing dirty about this exhibition is the
hands of clothes of the artists who made the art. So get
those clothes in the laundry! Show Rating: Not Quite
Squeaky Clean. Artwork contains sketches of nude male
and female figures.
Show runs from April 6 – May 1, 2024 at the NOA Gallery
in the Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre, 8330 82 Ave NW,
Edmonton, Alberta.
Opening Reception on April 6, 2024 (1 – 4 pm) featuring a
Free Life Drawing stand with costumed model. Try your
hand at sketching a timed lifedrawing pose!
The generous sponsorship of The Paint Spot, The Adrian
Zorzut School of Fine Art, and SignworksPlus is gratefully
acknowledged as is the support of Appliance All Service
and Linda Finstad.
